Nice, small, refined and dressy Jul 31, 2010
By Seamaster Wenger's Escort line of watches has been around for a long time and I would bet that Wenger will be phasing this line out, if it hasn't already done so. This watch is descended stylistically from the hugely popular hand-wound mechanical "tank" watches made by Bulova, Hamilton and many others during the 1930s, 40s and 50s. View any Bogart or Cary Grant movie from that period and you'll see most every male in the film wearing a tank, usually with a leather strap. I've heard that the name caught on when someone back then saw a similarity between the oblong watch and the treads of military tanks. Who knows. The Escort is slightly larger (30mm)across than the old tanks, which fell into the 22-25mm range and about the same moderate thickness. The Wenger is still genteel, restrained and best suited to dress occaisions. In fact, the steel bracelet is, if anything, somewhat too big for this smallish (by today's style standard) watch. The bracelet is 20mm wide all around, with a big "diver" folding clasp and is on the thick side, making this watch uncomfortably heavy. I took the bracelet off after a couple of days and substituted a nice leather strap. Much more comfortable. The bracelet is also highly polished, and, in combination with the polished case, too much glitter for my taste. The Wenger offers 50meter water resistance, a beautiful deep blue dial and slightly curved crystal, another stylistic nod to the watches of old. The highly polished sides of the case are stepped for a sort of Art Deco look. The hands are small, and luminosity even smaller, but readability in most light conditions is adequate. All in all, a nice-looking, refined, Swiss-quartz watch that you can expect to be quietly dependable if you treat it right.

Nice Aug 21, 2006
By Annie This is a very sharp watch and a great deal. The face color is more purple-blue than it appears in this picture, but not as blue as it appears on Wenger's site. My only small complaint is that when we had the band adjusted, the jewler told us that the pins were corroded and she couldn't take any more than 2 links out without the pins breaking. Her explanation was that the watch had been sitting in a warehouse too long. We're going to get a second opinion though. She may have been just a bitter mall employee!

it's the 15th of September.. i was promised to have it by the 14 Sep 15, 2010
By joseph i worked very hard to get the money for this watch not only that but it took me weeks to select one i was really excited however, today is the 15 of September MY BIRTHDAY AND I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE IT BY THE 14 I AM REALLY UPSET ABOUT IT SINCE THIS WAS THE ONLY THING I WAS GONNA GET THIS YEAR i usually buy things from amazon whenever i can but after this... i might look for other places i blame timezone as well for not fulfilling their promise
(I got the watch a couple of days later) it's what i was looking for. It's classy and simple. A little small but i know that when i order it. It doesn't stand out very much but it does look nice.
